BERNARD Morley says Radcliffe will stick to their beliefs as they look to recover from back-to-back defeats in National League North.
Boro followed up Saturday’s 3-0 defeat at Kidderminster Harriers with a disappointing 2-0 loss at Chester City on Tuesday night.
Focus now switches to Saturday’s visit of Needham Market as Boro seek a first ever victory at this level - and Morley says he and joint boss Anthony Johnson won’t be ripping up the rule book just yet.
“I thought we were ok on Saturday, I didn’t think we deserved to lose 3-0 but tonight (at Chester) we deserved 2-0,” he told the club website. “The facts are we deserved to lose the game. But just because we have lost two on the bounce. we are not going to start panicking.
“I’ve said it and I will say it again. It is a tough league. People expect momentum because we won a league last year. You can’t come to Chester and play 60 per cent and expect to get a result. You can’t go to Kidderminster and play at 70 per cent.
“You have to be playing at 80s and 90s and when you make mistakes you get punished. That is the be-all and end-all of it.”
Morley is hoping a number of Boro’s injured players will be in contention for Saturday having missed the opening three games of the campaign.
“Players coming back..all of a sudden the squad starts to look stronger,” he said. “People will start to panic and will say you need X-Y-Z in positions, we don’t. We are in our third game in to the season and I would like to think that we are only going to get better.
“We will stand by what we have done until the point we have to change it but all focus is on Saturday now.”
Morley thanked the 159 Boro supporters who made the trip to the Deva Stadium on Tuesday and he is hoping for a big turn out at the Neuven Stadium as they seek a debut win in National League North before a trip to Hereford on Bank Holiday Monday.
He added: “I don’t think the fans want an apology, they have come here to support us, I don’t know if they thought we’d win, we’d lose, we’d draw but what you see is fans who see what we are trying to do at the football club.
“We are trying to build that fan base, get it bigger and by playing good and attractive football we will encourage those numbers will go up.
“It is about supporting what we are trying to do and believing and buying in to it and if it takes three months to get to where we need to get, then it will take three months. If it’s six months, it’s six months.
“All we can do it purely focus on Saturday, hopefully get three points against Needham Market, be confident - which is down to us to instil it in to the players.
“We lost two games but if we get a win on Saturday then all of a sudden, you can start looking forward to the Monday.”
He added: “We just want the lads champing at the bit to get back in to rectify and put the wrongs, right. No doubt we will try and do that in abundance. Let’s get a big crowd there on Saturday and let’s hope we can rectify tonight’s error and Saturday’s error.”
