Bury hope to keep building momentum heading into a busy weekend at Gigg Lane.
The Shakers are full of confidence following successive victories against Abbey Hey, Avro and AFC Liverpool – beating the latter 2-0 thanks to goals from Macauley Wilson and Rustam Stepans.
Attention now turns to Saturday’s clash with Magull in the FA Vase and there is also a league clash with Cheadle Town to prepare for.
“I’m really happy,” said skipper Wilson. “The main thing is the three points and if I can contribute a few goals then brilliant but as long as the team wins, happy days.
“I thought we were always comfortable, we had a lot of the ball. Teams are going to come here and sit back so we need to find ways to break them down.
“They are also hoping to counter attack us so we have to be switched on for the whole 90 minutes.
“Especially at home, I think most teams will come here and sit off us. But overall, three points is great and it’s a first clean sheet of the season so we are dead happy about that.”
It was the second time the squad had played on the new pitch at Gigg Lane and Wilson enjoyed the experience.
“It suits us, we want to play football,” he continued. “It helps when there is a bit of water on it, and it rained just before kick-off, so we can zing passes around and move it quicker.
“When it is dry, you are taking an extra touch sometimes. I thought the pitch was brilliant tonight, I loved it.”
The defender had to be patient for his chance in the early stages of the season and now hopes he can kick on.
“I didn’t have a great game last time so it is fair enough, that is football. I am not one to moan, I am a team player,” he said.
“It is not nice to sit on the bench but when you get that opportunity, you have got to take it. Lewis Earl and Efe Ambrose have been brilliant when they played, it is competition but it is healthy.
“We are close-knit in the changing room and there is no bad blood if someone is on the bench, we are a team.
“When we came in for pre-season, we gelled straight away. We are quit a young group so we like the same things outside of football, and we just all get on.
“We have a laugh and speak to each other when we are not at training. We are a close-knit group and it is enjoyable.
“We are all loving the challenge, the aims, the pressure from the fans, it is what we play football for.”
