A major sponsor for an annual Bury community run has been announced ahead of the event next month.

Jane Tomlinson’s Run For All and Bury BID (Business Improvement District) have announced a multi-year partnership making Bury BID the new title sponsor of the Bury 10K for two years.

Bury BID works to revitalise Bury town centre through various services aimed at attracting and retaining more visitors and promoting local businesses.

This year's 10K run takes place on Sunday, September 15.

Nigel Shields, town centre director at Bury BID, said: "We are honoured to sponsor this fantastic event that not only promotes health and fitness but also brings our community closer together.

"The Run for All – Bury BID 10K aligns perfectly with our mission to enhance the vitality of Bury town centre and support local businesses."

The Bury 10K, hosted in cooperation with the council, is one of the region’s most notable mass participation running events.

Siobhan Curtis, marketing and communications director at Run For All, said: “We are delighted that Bury BID have pledged their support for the Bury 10K for the next two years. As one of the region’s most popular and biggest participation running events, the Bury 10K continues to benefit and inspire thousands of participants and benefit countless charities every year.

"We look forward to working with the team to continue to inspire and motivate potential entrants across the region to rise up to the challenge.”

The partnership will commence with this year’s Bury BID 10K on September 15.

The event will be accompanied by the Bury Mini and Junior runs, sponsored by Xerox Business Solutions, on the same day.

The route begins and concludes outside The Rock Shopping Centre, and features a scenic route through the heart of the town and the Kirkless Trail nature reserve.

Meanwhile, Backup North West, a charity partner of the event, which provides services to young people in Bolton aged 16 to 25 who are homeless or at risk of homelessness, is looking for Bury residents to team up with them for the event.

A number of the charity's staff, family and friends have signed up to run and raise as much money as possible for the organisation but is looking for borough locals to register and help raise as much money for the cause.
