It was an 18th birthday to remember for Bury ABC boxer Ella Thompstone when she won the final at Manchester Box.
The rising star put in what was arguably her most impressive performance yet against Slovenian national champion fighter Rebeka Fejerova, at 63kg, and won on a unanimous points decision.
As it was a straight final, it meant the Bury boxer took the gold medal.
The event was held at the Beactive Gym, in Urmston, Manchester, and it has become a large competition attracting boxers and boxing clubs from across Europe.
The bout was only Thompstone’s 11th fight and she is rapidly becoming a name to watch for the future in women’s boxing under the guidance of experienced coach, Mick Jelley.
