Bury ABC boxer Ella Thompstone scooped yet another title when she won at the Haringey Box Cup in London.
She travelled to the capital’s renowned Alexandra Palace to compete in the largest box cup in Europe against the very best amateur boxers from all over the world.
Thompstone was entered into the Youth Female 63kg category, however a day before the event began, she was notified the two other girls in her category had pulled out of the event.
She was offered a place in a heavier 66kg weight category and accepted the challenge, being handed a bye to Sunday’s final against the very experienced Norwegian, Helene Berg from the B-30 Trondheim Gym.
Thompstone, who has recently been placed on the England Boxing performance team, won the final on a 4-1 split decision to add to her haul of titles in just under two years at Bury ABC.
In this time she has become a two-time National Youth champion at 63kg, a two-time Haringey Box Cup champion at 63kg and 66kg and Irish Esker Box Cup champion at 63kg.
There was more success for the club last Saturday at the Larchley Savick Boxing Club show, in Preston, when Courtney Wolstenholme won her second bout against home fighter, Emma Swift, by a unanimous decision.
