ANDY Welsh admitted Tuesday’s draw with fellow FA Vase quarter finalists West Didsbury and Chorlton was a fair result as Bury AFC now prepare for a hectic end to the season.
Despite creating plenty of chances, Bury had to settle for a 0-0 draw against the Manchester outfit.
The point sees Bury remain in fifth place in NWCL Premier Division but with plenty of games in hand - and they added another one to the list following Saturday’s game at Barnoldswick Town being postponed.
“I thought the draw was probably the fair result in the end,” said Welsh reflecting on the Neuven Stadium stalemate. “West Didsbury are on a really good run themselves and, like I have said, you always have to respect teams.
“I thought they came and made it hard for us but we did create chances...we had six of seven on target and quite a few off target but that happens, that is football.”
Bury will now be playing every weekend and midweek until the end of the season and Welsh is calling on fans to support them all the way - starting at Burscough on Saturday.
“That will be a tough game,” added Welsh. “We will be at their place on 4G, we just have to keep working hard as a unit and make sure that when we go to these places we continue to be hard to beat.
“If we don’t score we keep the backdoor shut and we did that (against West Didsbury).
“I was pleased with our defensive display and I am sure the goals will come.”
He added: “When we go away from home we travel really well and when we are at home they (the fans) really get behind us. We can’t underestimate how much they mean to us and we are going to need them coming in to the latter stage of the season
“It is really exciting, we are in a great position and we just want to keep moving forward.”
