Bury ABC teenage talent Ella Thompstone has become a national youth champion.
The 17-year-old, who also attends the Joe Gallagher Boxing Academy, travelled to North Solihull Sports Centre in Birmingham for the England Boxing National Youth Championships and triumphed in her Youth Girls Under-63kg final.
Thompstone was representing the North West and after her opponent on the Saturday withdrew, she faced Macy Gardner, of Arena Boxing Club in Bournemouth, in the final.
And the Bury boxer won on the judges score cards by unanimous decision.
It is a remarkable achievement for former St Gabriel’s RC School youngster who trains with Mick Jelley and Colin Carr at Bury ABC.
She only had her first boxing bout one year ago and in her first 12 months has become Haringey Box Cup champion, National Boys and Girls Club champion and now she is England National Youth champion.
Before starting to learn how to box at Bury ABC, Thompstone trained at GFC Muay Thai, in Bury, for five years, becoming a two-time European Junior champion.
