Andy Welsh insists his side will ‘fight and scrap’ as Bury AFC continued their push for promotion in NWCL Premier Division following Tuesday night’s hard-fought 1-0 win against Charnock Richard.
The victory, settled by Matty Williams first half effort - followed Saturday’s 2-1 triumph at Winsford United which sees Bury move up to fifth place in the table.
Welsh is expecting another tough test on Merseyside on Saturday when they face Litherland REMYCA and he insists his players can more than match their hosts heart and desire.
Reflecting on Tuesday’s win against Charnock Richard, Welsh said: “It was a really tough game.
“I am a little bit surprised to see them where they are in the table, I thought they did cause us problems. To be honest, I think we should have had the game dead and buried...their keeper was probably man of the match but we have to fight and scrap for every single point and we certainly did that.”
While Welsh stuck with the same side that beat Winsford, he says everyone - on and off the pitch has a role to play.
“We need everyone, we need everyone to play a part, not just the players, the fans, everyone,” he said. “This is our club, we need to fight for every point and we take that in to Saturday.”
Looking ahead to Litherland, Welsh is expecting a tough test.
“They have really picked up, they have had some good results recently,” he said. “They beat Charnock Richard with nine men...so clearly they have got that fight, that desire about them and we have got to more than match it and be ready to go on Saturday.”
