YOUNG boxers from Bury ABC have been back in the ring recently, notching some notable successes.
At Bradford’s Midland Hotel on Saturday, 15-year-old Zackariah Singh won on a split decision at 58kg against Stanley Everett of Lion’s Gym.
Stablemate Ehmad Mustapha, however, lost unanimously on points at 52kg against Saad Qayyum, also of Lion’s.
The previous week, at Seacroft WMC in Leeds, 13-year-old Mohammad Dayaal had his first 41kg skills bout against J Mullans, of Leeds ABC, while Craig Barnes, aged 16, lost on points at 45kg against K Hussain (Leeds ABC).
Wakas Afridi, also 16, was beaten on points at 67kg by E Ballalusby (Evolve ABC) but Amaani Afsar (15) won at 58kg on a split decision against W Mamood (Evolve ABC) and Isaac Hussain (16), fighting at 64kg, beat K Khonjily (Leeds ABC) unanimously on points.
In Blackburn a few days later, Kyle Warburton (15) won at 54kg via unanimous decision against R Hussain-Din (Tecknique ABC) and 19-year-old Umar Balal , fighting at 74kg, won on points against B Bateka (Olivers ABC).
Later that day in Croxteth, Liverpool, Zackariah Singh was beaten by local fighter C Davies but bounced back with his victory in Bradford last weekend.
