Lee Donafee got off to a winning start as Ramsbottom manager after the shock of being promoted following Chris Willcock’s departure to Workington.
Previously Rammy’s assistant, he started life in the top job with a 2-0 victory over Bury AFC on Saturday.
“I was surprised, to be honest, but I was delighted as well to represent this club,” Donafee said.
“Historically, a good club, who have had good managers and it’s a tough lead for me to follow when you look at the managers who have been here before me.
“After working under Chris Willcock, it was a privilege to take the job and I’m absolutely made up to be asked to take the job.”
Rammy ensured the boss started with a victory thanks to goals from Jamie Rainford and Morgan Moreland.
Saturday was the fourth win of pre-season so far and Donafee was pleased with the result and the effort shown.
“For a friendly, you want to apply yourself in how you want to play,” said Donafee.
“The lads haven’t played much football in the last 18 months so these friendlies come in handy for giving the lads match fitness.
“There were some outstanding performances individually, and collectively I couldn’t have asked for any more.”
Rammy continue their preparations for the new campaign at Bala Town on Saturday.
