PRESTWICH Heys has organised a 16-team, four-location football tournament.
The Heys Invitational Cup will be held at Adie Moran Park, Squires Gate, Longridge Town and Bootle FC and will start on April 17.
The club has made the move to bring back football after the North West Counties League season was curtailed along with all other ‘non-elite’ football.
Teams will play in regional groups of four who will play each other once.
Each location will then hold a quarter-final – between the sides that finish first and second – with both the semi-finals and the final being held at Adie Moran Park, regardless of which teams progress to the last four.
Knockout rounds are one leg affairs – a draw means extra-time and penalties.
Games will have rolling substitutions, with seven allowed for each team per game.
The teams in the tournament are as follows:
Group 1 – Squires Gate, AFC Blackpool, Charnock Richard, Garstang.
Group 2 – Prestwich Heys, Chadderton, Northwich Victoria, Padiham.
Group 3 – Longridge Town, Ashton Town, Pilkington, St Helens.
Group 4 – Bootle, AFC Liverpool, Litherland REMYCA, Lower Breck.
