PRESTWICH Golf Club is back into action after reopening its revamped course and clubhouse.
Captain Mike Fitzpatrick, president Barbara Elliott, immediate past captain Derek Hopkins and vice-captain Peter Howard were first on the tee to mark the occasion.
Fitzpatrick, a member of the club for 33 years and who plays off nine handicap, said: “The redevelopment of the course was enabled by the sale of land for residential development which gave us the money to redevelop and redesign the course.
“The green staff, led by course manager Chris Harding, have done a tremendous job in keeping the course playable whilst the development was taking place and continue to do a great job with the course today.
“There are four brand new holes and six newly designed holes which give us an enjoyable and challenging course.”
He added: “The members love the course and it has led to an increase in membership.
“I would like to thank the people involved at the golf club for their hard work that has made this vision become a reality.”
President Barbara Elliott, the first lady to be president of Prestwich GC, added: “We have been waiting a while for the completion of the new course but it has certainly been worth the wait.”
And club professional Pearson added: “Prestwich Golf Club is buzzing again and the excellent work done by so many people has reaped its reward.”
