FORMER Scunthorpe man Jo Cummings will be returning to Radcliffe next season.
The promising defender impressed in a brief loan spell at the Neuven Stadium in March before Covid-19 brought the Northern Premier League Premier Division season to an abrupt halt.
Cummings has now been released by the Iron with Boro boss Lee Fowler quickly making him his latest new recruit.
Former AFC Telford midfielder Jonathan Royle has also put pen to paper ahead of next season with Fowler looking well stocked in the middle of the park – Matty Crothers, Rhian Hellawell, Louis White and Kole Hall all having signed up for another year.
The news follows the arrivals of former Bury goalkeeper Cameron Belford, defenders Curits Obeng and Jack Shiels and frontman Andy Owens.
Royle said: “I was a trainee when Fowls was at Wrexham and he was someone who played in my position and I looked up to a lot.
“He used to look after the young lads really well when he was a pro so he’s one of the big reasons I’m here.”
The Radcliffe squad are back in initial training while following coronavirus restrictions.
“It’s been nice to get a touch of the ball again,” Royle said.
“We didn’t do much with the ball at first but it’s good to get back into the rhythm of things.
“There’s nothing like game situations to get yourself fit, it’s the best way to get yourself in shape.”
Royle is clear on his ambitions as Boro look to improve on 16th next season: “We’re not just coming here to enjoy it and have a laugh, we want to win and finish as high as we can in the league.”
