BURY ABC boxer Ibrahim Nadim is the new England Boxing National Amateur champion.
The 20-year-old won on a split decision in Saturday's final of the men's under-56kg division against Dale Youth ABC's John O'Meara to see him crowned senior national ABA champion.
And Nadim was delighted to win in front of a home crowd at Manchester Central.
He told England Boxing: "It's a great feeling – I'm buzzing to win.
"It's what I have worked hard for and all that work has paid off.
"We both had a big crowd behind us and it was a great atmosphere – that is what kept me going."
Bury ABC coach Mick Jelley was just as pleased and said: "Ibrahim was the only lad from the North West to become senior ABA champion.
"It was a tight fight between two good boxers but I think Ibrahim did enough to win it."
Nadim now has his sights set on more success in the GB Three Nations tournament later this year and he also hopes to try out for Team GB.
he added: "Hopefully I can compete at the Three Nations next and see how that goes.
"I also want to get picked for trials for Great Britain."
