Lisa Cartwright was celebrating after completing a brilliant hat-trick at the Bolton Tennis Competition.

The Hawkshaw player was in superb form to clean up at the annual tournament - winning the singles, ladies and mixed doubles events.

In a highly-entertaining ladies final, Cartwright's was pushed all the way by club-mate Rachel Branagan before moving up a gear to take the deciding set 6-0 to claim her 19th singles title since 1984.

With the show courts waterlogged on Saturday, several of the finals were switched to Markland Hill from Bolton School.

Despite the conditions, spectators were given a treat in the ladies doubles. In a thrilling showdown, Cartwright and Branagan took a tie-break 8-6 against Holcombe Brook rivals Hayley Warrington and Lisa Jackson.

Cartwright made it a clean sweep in the mixed final. Playing with Phil Rimmer, the Hawkshaw partnership defeated Sarah and Phil Shacklady, of Markland Hill, 6-2, 6-3.

In stark contrast to Cartwright's success, Walmer's Keith Fairhurst, who reached the handicap veteran mens, the handicap veteran mixed and the handicap senior mixed finals only to be on the losing side in all three.

Earlier, Holcombe Brook duo Matthew Boyle and Charlie Foley battled it out in the boys under-13s final, with Boyle running out a 6-2, 7-5 winner.

In the mens, the excellent junior pairing of Jamie Grimshaw and James Turner achieved the feat of reaching both the junior and senior finals. They took the junior title from holders Sam Stuart and John Nuttall 7-5, 6-4, but were beaten in the senior event by Johnnie Davies and Dan Keenan by a comfortable 6-4, 6-2 margin.

Bolton's John Lister picked up the mens singles title with a comprehensive 6-1, 6-2 victory over Simon Pearson.
