RADCLIFFE AC's Simon Bruton showed a return to form with a superb second place in the latest Haigh Hall 5 at Wigan. He is now in overall lead with only one race to go in the series.

Simon also finished an excellent fifth in the Burden 10k Challenge road race at Bolton with a great time of 35mins 56secs.

Recently several members travelled to the Lakes to support former Radcliffe runner Mick Howard in his successful attempt on the 24-hour Bob Graham Round.

The gruelling ultra-distance challenge covers 65 miles and more than 25,000 feet of climbing and is the supreme challenge for runners in the Lake District. Mick, who had been a Radcliffe member for many years and now lives in the Rossendale Valley, completed the run in a staggering 21 hours despite some nasty conditions.

Six members took to the fells in the Lakes to take part in the 11.9-mile Kentmere Fell Race, covering 3,300 feet of climbing.
