BSF Summer League IT was again a battle with the wet weather in the league this week, but Walmer Mixed B managed to gain an emphatic win in Division Five at Barrow Bridge C.
Paul and Fran Biggins led the way in the Mixed Section with a 6-0 win, followed by wins from Brian Richards and Sarah Ormrod 6-2, Angela Parton and Sarah Fleming 6-1, and Adam Goodie and Cath Horridge 6-0.
It was plain sailing in the Men's Section with wins for Richards and Goodie 6-1 6-2, and Biggins and Parton 6-0 6-3.
In the Ladies Section, Sarah and Sarah won 6-0 6-0, and Fran and Cath scored 6-0 3-6, for Walmer B to win by 69-18.
Walmer Mixed C, after a good win last week, were hoping to add to it this week when at home to Bradshaw C in Division Seven. The early Mixed Section results showed the match would be close when John Biggins and Carole Turner won 6-0, while Adam Heath and Natalie Chapman lost 4-6. Mike Booth and Val Simpson lost 5-6, and Ray Tait and Hattie Morley lost 2-6.
Biggins and Tait won well with 6-2 6-2 sets, but Walmer won just one more set with success for Natalie and Carole at 6-4 4-6, and despite some hard fought sets, Walmer lost the match 54-58.
Walmer Men's B were away to Winton in Division Five, where their best couple on the night were Justan Nuttall and Adam Goodie with 6-6 6-3 6-4 sets. Stu Hardy and John Biggins went down 5-7 4-6 3-6, and with reverses of 2-6 1-6 3-6 for James Edge and Ian Wilde, it meant a 2.6-6.5 defeat for Walmer.
Walmer Men's C gained revenge for an early season defeat by Meadow Hill, with a victory at Mosley Avenue in Division Seven. Stu Donaldson and Brian Richards won all three sets at 6-2 6-4 6-3, Ray Tait and Alan Carney took two sets with 6-2 6-4 2-6 scores. Mike Booth and the steadily improving Adam Heath scored 1-6 3-6 6-3 to give Walmer C their 6-3 win.
