TAYLOR Moore is confident Bury can bounce back from defeat by beating neighbours Oldham in a “must win” clash at Boundary Park on Saturday.
The full-back has been ever-present since joining on loan from Bristol City in January, racking up 10 appearances.
But this will not be the youngster’s first test of derby-day nerves.
Aged 18, Moore made his professional debut for Lens in front of a bumper crowd of 41,435 in a fierce tie with Lille.
Adding to the pressure, the former England Under-19s captain was also played out of position at right-back – a first for the natural centre-half.
Two years on Moore has returned to his native England and made the full-back position his own, even adopting a forward-thinking approach as a wing-back.
Reflecting on past derby day encounters in France, Moore said: “I have made my debut out in France for Lens against Lille in front of 40,000, that was a derby game.
“This one will be very different and better. I am personally really looking forward it.
"I was really upset with losing last week but we’ll move on.
“Given the defeat against Gillingham it turns the game against Oldham into a must-win game.
“I hope it will be a good atmosphere there, whether it be from the Oldham fans or the Bury fans.
“Hopefully, everyone will get behind us and help us push on to get the win.”
Before the defeat to Gillingham last week Bury had recorded three straight wins and climbed out of the relegation zone in the process.
Now Moore is confident the squad have enough quality to get back on the winning track and move further away from the drop zone.
“We have been on such a good run recently and played some good football,” he added.
“Last week was a set back – one that we have not been used to – but we have got enough character in this team to bounce back.
“We know we have got enough talent in this squad to really push on and get away from this relegation battle.
“Our ultimate goal is to get as far up the table as possible.”
Meanwhile, Bury’s match at Oxford, originally scheduled for Saturday, April 1, has been brought forward to Tuesday, March 28, kick-off 7.45pm, due to the Us’ involvement in the Checkatrade Trophy.
