BURY Broncos moved back to the top of Division Two in the North West Men's League following a 46-6 win at bottom side Leigh East A.
They put in a polished display after back-to-back defeats against title rivals Pilkington Recs A and Leyland Warriors in their previous two matches threatened to blow their bid for a play-off place off course.
The first half was one-way traffic as Broncos scored 28 points without reply.
Winger Joe Galpin began the rout with an unconverted try in the corner and debutant Andy Willis showed a burst of pace to double their advantage.
Second rower Liam Sixsmith then ran a great line off Sean Kelly to scythe through the Leigh defence and make it 12-0.
A second score from Willis, which he converted himself, followed before Reece Bottomley got on the score sheet.
The first-half scoring was closed out by a 50-yard burst from Kelly, with Willis kicking the extras.
A run of five consecutive penalties given away by Bury after the break handed Leigh the opportunity to get on the scoreboard and they grasped it, barging over before kicking the extras.
But Leigh were unable to convert their improved display into points and Broncos scored with their first meaningful period of possession in the opposition half when Jonno Taylor bullied his way over the line.
Blake Roberts added the extras and Broncos were back in business.
Sixsmith scored with a carbon copy of his first-half effort and a Kelly chip was picked up by Brad Cave, who touched down for his 10th try of the season.
Both tries were converted by Roberts in a performance that was lit up by great displays from second-teamers Willis, Danny Kelly and Chris McGarry, who stepped up to cover for injuries and absentees.
Elsewhere, the Broncos under-13s followed up their win at Wigan St Judes last week with a 30-28 victory at Westhoughton Lions, while half-back Kelly and Joe Mulligan made their debuts for Great Britain Teachers on Sunday in a hard fought 20-18 defeat against GB Police in Batley.
