GREENMOUNT Under-9s continued the club's proud record in junior cricket with victory in the Greater Manchester Cricket League's junior indoor tournament.

They won every game in the competition, held at Total Cricket in Ashton, keeping up Greenmount's winning momentum after their U11s won the Lancashire Knockout last season and U13s were losing finalists.

The U9s showed there is plenty more talent coming through the ranks, with Harry Bradley and George Harris hitting an impressive 210 runs from 126 balls to be named leading run scorers at the indoor tournament.

Alistair Gunn and Tom Hulse were fantastic in the field with plenty of wickets taken and some great catches between them.

And Josh Pridgeon and Thomas Knowles had a positive start to their first full season at u9s.

Team manager Ged Buckley said: “All the players have been working very hard over the winter months and they are all looking forward to the season in the new league.

"In recent years Greenmount has invested heavily in youth development and it is beginning to bear fruit, with several members representing both the Bury district and Lancashire.

"The club boasts a number of Level Three and Two ECB-qualified coaches, who work alongside the Greenmount's South African professional Travis Townsend and Australian overseas amateur Jona Summat."

Greenmount have junior teams in both the Greater Manchester and Lancashire Leagues.

Training is held every Friday from 6-7pm for the u9s and u11s.
