BOLTON rounders teams took a break from league fixtures to compete in a busy cup week, which saw more than 90 matches played.
Trafford EHS made it through to the second round of the Chadwick Cup when they beat ADM Flooring in a very close match.
The half-time score was 40-38 in Trafford's favour, they then went on to score a further 95 runs and ADM replied with 96, leaving Trafford the winners by just one run, 135-134.
Trafford will meet Horwich RMI in the next round. Jane Edwards 17, Anne Grundy 16 and Heather Warburton 16 were Trafford's top score.
Lower Pools and Phase Two Bedrooms produced another close Chadwick Cup finish.
Donna O'Brian (25 runs) and Amanda Strickleton (23) helped Lower Pools to a 143-141 win and set up a second round match against Farnworth and District Vets. They romped home with a 154D-132 defeat of their A Section opponents, St Josephs Sport College.
In the Dixon Shield, The Grapes A and Coranado Ladies were separated by one run at half-time, but in the second innings Grapes pulled away to win the match 138-112.
Top scorers for the Grapes were Andrea Boardman 28, Kelly Bradford 28 and Janet Owens 23. They will play K2 Ladies in round two, who had an innings win against Nationwide XI.
Future XI continue to win games.
They are joint leaders of Section H, and made it through to the next round of the Blackburn Shield with an innings win against Applejax. In the Matchwinners Cup, Tonge Moor Ladies beat Church Inners without needing their 20-run start.
After trailing at the interval, they took the match 254-232 helped by a 51 score from Rebecca Clemence.
Walkden CC B have made a great start to the season.
They are joint leaders of Section I, and have made it through to the second round in both the Blackburn Shield and Matchwinners Cup despite a 60 run handicap when they beat Hulton Ladies 272-154.
