A FORMER Tottington High School pupil has made a try-scoring debut for the BARLA Emerging Young Lions.
Jack McConachie touched down the Lions' fourth score as the under-17s team thrashed Spain's u21s earlier this year.
The 16-year-old from Bury was called up for the tour having caught the attention of selectors with his displays for club side Rochdale Mayfield ARLC.
In the first meeting between the teams, McConachie put in an impressive performance as the Lions put their Spanish hosts to the sword.
The former Woodbank Primary School pupil ran in one of 11 tries in a one-sided game as BARLA ran out 60-18 winners.
The teenager, who has played at Mayfield since the age of nine has previously been selected for Lancashire's under-16s which earned him praise from Mustangs' Wayne Hartley.
"Jack is the epitome of the modern rugby league player, strong, fit and dedicated, both to the sport and to his club," he said.
McConachie, who received a rugby league scholarship last year, is currently studying at Hopwood College in Middleton.
