BURY tennis starlet Josh Taylor has fallen just short of booking his spot at a prestigious Wimbledon tournament.
Playing for a place in the HSBC Road to Wimbledon under-14 Challenge, the Bury Grammar School pupil was unable to find a way past eventual winner David Quayle in the North Regional Qualifier semi-final at Ilkley Lawn Tennis Club, losing 2-6, 6-1, 6-0.
After falling short of the famous SW19, the 14-year-old admitted he found it difficult adapting to a grass court.
“It is a big tournament and you want to do well because you want to play at Wimbledon but it is tough adapting to grass courts seeing as there are not many tournaments around,” said Taylor.
