MATCH officials have called off Bury's FA Cup first round tie at home to Cambridge United due to a waterlogged pitch.
A planned pitch inspection, requested by the club after heavy rain overnight, had been put back from 11.30am to noon as further rain started to fall.
And, after a heavy 10-minute burst, the decision was taken to postpone the cup tie immediately.
A spokesman for Bury FC said: "A heavy downpour just after 11am wiped out any chance of playing today’s game.
"Referee Mark Brown took his time in assessing the pitch and gave it every chance, but the heavy downpour just after 11 wiped out any chances of saving the game."
The game will now be played, weather permitting, at Gigg Lane on Tuesday, November 19, kick of 7.45pm.
All tickets bought in advance will be honoured for the re-arranged fixture.
