BLUE Devils went 5-0 behind within three minutes of the first quarter of against Liverpool Tigers in this National League North West Conference tie.

However, the Devils responded and in the fourth minute scored six points with Henry Powell scoring five of those points to give the hosts the lead. The lead was short lived as Liverpool countered to score five points without reply.

Bury were still in with a shout at 11-10 down in the first quarter, but Liverpool took control with three minutes remaining, scoring six points with Bury only responding with one free throw score to end the quarter 22-12 down.

Liverpool continued to dominate the game into the second quarter, scoring six points without reply and then scoring nine points in a row. The Blue Devils could only manage eight points over the 10 minute period and were 41-20 at the half time break.

The third quarter was the most disappointing for the young Blue Devils as they were only able to put six points on the scoreboard but allowed their opponents 21 – many of them scored on runs of 6-0 and 8-0, without Blue Devils being able to reply.

Blue Devils did improve in the fourth quarter, scoring eight points and keeping their opponents to 17, but the result was a formality from half time onwards. Blue Devils will have to up their offensive game if they are going to compete next Saturday in the local Derby away to Oldham Titans, 4.15pm tip off at Oasis Academy.
