ALAN Knill and Chris Brass may not be the only familiar faces in the opposition dug-out on Saturday when Torquay visit Gigg Lane.

The Torquay manager and his assistant, who left the Bury hotseat to take over at Scunthorpe eight games before the end of the 2010/11 season, could also be joined by ex-Shaker Damien Mozika.

Mozika helped Bury to promotion after Knill’s sudden departure but left to join up with him at Glanford Park months later.

The move proved to be disastrous for both manager and player, with Knill sacked last October and Mozika released in the summer after being sidelined with a serious hamstring injury since January.

Both have now resurfaced at Plainmoor, with Knill recently signing the 26-year-old French midfielder on a “pay-as-you-play” contract.

Mozika came on for the final 15 minutes of Torquay’s 1-1 draw at home to Portsmouth last Saturday, and managed an hour for the reserves in midweek.

Mozika’s return would add extra spice to what is likely to be a tense basement battle.

Fans will not need reminding that he left Gigg Lane to join up with Knill at Scunthorpe months after helping the Shakers to promotion from League Two.

Knill and Brass did not wait around that long, leaving Bury for the then Championship side with just eight games left of the 2010/11 season and the Shakers’ hopes of League One football hanging in the balance.

Bury boss Ronnie Jepson is more concerned with the present, however, as he bids to build on last weekend’s 2-1 win at Wycombe – a victory that saw the Shakers leapfrog Torquay and move two three points clear of the relegation zone.

“All we are concentrating on is preparing the players properly for what will be a tough match,” he said.

“Football has a nasty habit of coming back to bite you if you lose your focus, so we will be giving Torquay the respect they deserve while doing our best to earn another three points.”
