IN section B of the Bury and District Open Snooker League, Huntley C top the table. They were aided by Huntley C’s Paul Anderson’s performance winning his frame (149-49) as Huntley won against Bury Snooker C 7-1. Salisbury defeated Central E 7-1 with most of the frames were close but Salisbury took five from 6. Dan Tracey impressed with his win (72-40).
Central B hosted St Mary’s and it ended in a 4-4 draw, St Mary’s took four frames but Matt Smith’s (74-40) win for Central gave them the aggregate. Meanwhile, Central D took the spoils at Stanley despite Dave Holt’s best efforts for Stanley as he took his frame (70-21) but Central took four of the frames in a 7-2 win. Steve Barton and Rik Davies starred for Seedfield A winning their frames as Seedfield defeated Elton Lib D 6-2.
In section C, it’s much closer at the top after Tottington Con B after beat Heaton Park 6-2. The match was in the balance until the fifth frame when Tottington’s Ted Nadin had a fine win (98-21) to seal victory. Bury Bridge have won their first three games – that’s as many as they managed all last season. Bury Bridge player Trevor Robinson went on last with the aggregate level and won his first frame in two seasons to clinch the match 6-3 away to Walshaw A. Seedfield B are also up with the early pace setters winning 6-3 away to Huntley B. Seedfield’s Paul Eslick shone by taking his frame (78-39). Walshaw B hosted Buchanans B.
In the fourth frame the spectators were treated to a fine impersonation of two old pro’s unfortunately they happened to be Cliff Thorburn and Terry Griffiths. The frame lasted one hour and 20 minutes before Buchanans Ged French took the frame (74-34) however, Walshaw B took the match 6-2. Walmersley Con won at home to Whitefield BC 6-2 with Derek Hutchinson taking the last (76-42).
In section A, Radcliffe Central C lost at home 7-2 to Elton Lib B James Morrison on debut for Elton taking his frame (94-32). Elton Lib A won at home to Huntley A with Elton’s Carl Naisbitt taking his frame (102-52) in a 6-2 win.
