THE Over 50s NW Senior Traveller Series concluded with a superb day’s sailing at Elton Sailing Club.
Bolton Sailing Club’s Tony Critchley claimed his second victory of the series in his Supernova to clinch the overall title in the handicap event.
Second place was claimed by the Merlin of Martin and Rene Watts, of Hollingsworth Lake, who also finished runners-up in the series.
Elton sailors followed close behind, with Carol and Jon Haines guiding their Scorpion to third place and Darren Nield (Elton) finished fourth in his Laser to clinch third place overall.
The series had 56 different boats taking part this year, each vying for a slice of the £500-worth of prizes provided by Yachts and Yachting.
The magazine also donated £500 towards the running of the event, which included seven open meetings involving clubs around the North West that would not normally cross tacks.
