BURY failed to recover from a nightmare start at Brunton Park that saw them concede twice in the opening 10 minutes.

A Lee Miller penalty in the second minute was compounded by a calm finish from Matty Robson eight minutes later.

The Shakers had the home side on the ropes after the break, however, and earned a deserved way back into the match with a bullet header from captain Steven Schumacher.

Bury also hit the woodwork twice, through a Joe Skarz header and a shot from half-time substitute Sebastien Carole.

Both sides had good scoring chances in a frenetic closing 10 minutes. Carlisle stopper Mark Gillespie denied Tom Hopper with a flying save to cut out his close-range shot, while Bradley Potts missed two great chances at the other end.

But Bury, who flung Efe Sodje forward late on, could not force a result.
