BURY Comets youngsters James Elston and Adam Watson raced off in a tie-breaker for the third-place trophy in the British Indoor Under-13s individual championship at Fit-City, Eccles.
While Wolverhampton’s Brandon Whetton came from nowhere to win the title with a 20-point maxumum, Elston, Watson, Leicester’s Liam Davies and Exeter’s Will Tidball tied on 17 points for third. Elston chased hard to no avail as Tidball took full advantage of his inside line and Watson crashed out.
Local lads Danny Taylor scored 11 points and Adam Turnbull notched eight. Twelve-year-old Elston qualified for the u16s final, and took 12 points from four rides after a bike failure in his first outing.Watson finished with 16 points in sixth place. In the women’s final, Laura Watson finished sixth on 15 points.
