AN outstanding individual will be crowned for their commitment to the environment at Bury's premier awards ceremony later this year.

Nominations in this and other categories are being sought by Groundwork Bury in the run-up to their tenth annual Environmental Awards and Dinner.

The event will be staged at the Longfield Suite, Pretwich, on Friday, November 23, to be hosted again by Channel M presenter, Andy Crane.

Groundwork is introducing a new prize for the Outstanding Individual Contribution award. It could be a business person, teacher or a member of the public who deserves recognition for their hard work.

Groundwork Bury has also extended its operations to Bolton, so nominations from that town are also being sought.

Other categories include Health, Safety and Environmental Management, Public Sector Initiative, Building Structures and Landscape Improvement, Energy, Water and Waste Management and Primary and Secondary Schools Environmental Project.

All nominations are put forward to an independent panel of judges from many different walks of life to shortlist before deciding on the final winner who will be presented with their award on stage.

Each year, Groundwork holds the event to celebrate the achievements and give thanks to those who have worked extremely hard throughout the year to make a difference to the environment within Bury and Bolton.

Entry deadline for nominations is October 24. For further information on how to nominate for any of the awards, contact Groundwork on (0161) 762 2650.
