FREE legal advice will be on offer at a special evening clinic for people who believe they have been unfairly treated at work.

Lawyers will work for free to give specialist advice in the 30-minute appointments available at Bury Law Centre.

The fortnightly sessions are the result of a partnership between the Employment Lawyers Association and LawWorks.

The service will be officially launched at an open day tomorrow at the centre in Bank Street, Bury, which will be attended by Councillor Yvonne Creswell, deputy leader of Bury Council.

The first clinic will then be held on Tuesday, July 24.

David Wildman, Bury Law Centre's development worker, said: "A significant number of the employment enquires we receive are from people on a low wage, who would find it difficult to meet the costs of legal assistance but whose earnings are too high to qualify for free help under legal aid.

For these people, and indeed, anyone who needs guidance when deciding whether to take forward a case against their employer, this initiative provides the reassurance of specialist advice in an independent, not-for-profit setting."
