POLICE are searching for a taxi driver who may have information about the murder of a 23-year-old man in Prestwich.
David Lees, of Heathbank Road, Blackley, was mown down by a car in the early hours of Saturday morning during a disturbance between white and Asian men in Middleton Road.
He was taken to the North Manchester General Hospital but died shortly afterwards. Two men, aged 25 and 27, have been arrested and released on bail in connection with the incident.
Police are now looking for a taxi driver who drove past the area and may have information about what happened.
Detective Superintendent Kevin Duffy, from the Greater Manchester Police, said: "I'm particularly appealing to the driver of a black Hackney cab, who drove past the disturbance in the early hours of Saturday morning. The man picked up a passenger from Victoria in Manchester city centre and took him to his home in Blackley. We believe he saw the incident and could hold vital information to assist with the investigation."
