SHOCKING mobile phone footage showing a teenager deliberately throwing himself into the side of a moving bus in Ramsbottom has been posted on the internet.
The short film shows a teenage boy running into what is believed to have been a First Bus travelling along Bolton Road West and was broadcast on the video-sharing website YouTube.com. The youth throws himself at the side of the bus and falls to the ground - missing the rear wheels by feet - before standing back up apparently unhurt and laughing at his prank.
The film was shown on Granada Reports last week and is believed to have been removed from YouTube shortly after being broadcast.
It is not known when it was recorded. A spokesman for First Bus said there had been no records of the "bus splat" being reported and no one at the bus company had seen the film, but warned others not to copy the dangerous stunt.
He said: "When it was discovered, it disappeared from YouTube so we have not seen it. It is absolute madness and deadly dangerous - not only to the individual that did it but also to the driver, passengers and other road users.
"If anybody sees this sort of behaviour, we urge them to report it straight away. The driver may not have been aware of what had happened as, by the time he would have checked his mirrors, the youth is back on the pavement but, if it had happened two seconds later, this boy would have been under the wheels of the bus."
YouTube.com is a website allowing members to post their videos online, often made using the latest mobile phone technology, to share with people around the world.
