A STUDENT has been arrested on suspicion of stealing an ornament from a grave at Radcliffe Cemetery.
It is alleged the 19-year-old took the ornament during the early hours of yesterday.
Police were called by residents at 5am over the 18-year-old driver of a VW Polo car parked nearby who was drinking alcohol. Officers recovered the ornament and four teenagers were arrested.
Detective Constable Ben Martin from Bury CID said: "We have released the teenager on bail while we try to trace the owner of the ornament and return it to the correct grave. Two 16-year-old juveniles have been released without charge while the driver of the vehicle has been charged with drink-driving."
The ornament's owners are asked to contact Bury police on 856 4629.
