POLICE are reminding householders to lock doors and windows after two burglaries at nearby houses in Bury.
A thief got into the properties in Chesham through unlocked front doors on Tuesday, June 19.
Between 7am and 4pm, £40 and credit cards were stolen from a handbag in a house in Malvern Avenue.
On the same day, between 12.50pm and 1.30pm, the owner of a house in Linton Avenue disturbed a thief who got away with a handbag. It was later found in nearby Clarence Park, but cash and credit cards were missing.
Insp Charlotte Cadden, of Bury East neighbourhood policing team, said: “I want to remind people to lock their doors and windows, even when they are at home, to make sure burglars do not take advantage of the insecurities.”
The offender was a white male around 20 years old, 5ft 10ins tall, of medium build and with closely-shaven, dark brown hair.
He wore a long-sleeved black thin cagoule and rode a bicycle.
Anyone with information is asked to call police on 101 or telephone Crimestoppers, anonymously, on 0800 555111.
