FUNDRAISERS will be under starters’ orders on Sunday for the fifth annual Bury Fun Run.

More than 400 people are expected to take part in the five-mile race in aid for Bury Hospice.

The run will be started by the Mayor Of Bury, Cllr Joan Grimshaw, at 1pm at the Bolholt Country Park Hotel, Walshaw Road.

The course is along Walshaw Road, Lowercroft Road, Starling Road, Bury And Bolton Road, Stephen Street, Newbold Street and back on to Walshaw Road.

Trophies will be presented to the first male, first female, first boy and first girl to finish.

Spectators can also enjoy attractions, including fairground rides, a raffle, tombola, cake stalls, barbecue, beer tent and ice-cream van.

Among the prizes will be a quilt made by the Elms Craft Group, based at Elms Community Centre in Whitefield. And there will even be the chance to enter a free draw to win a Peugeot 208 car.

Since the first run was held in 2008, more than £20,000 has been raised for the hospice and the Joe Geeling Trust.

The race is open to anyone over the age of five. Entry is £10 adults and £5 children. Registration will be available on the day. For details call 0161 762 4000 or 763 9999, or visit lavenderhotels.co.uk
