TWO Bury councillors will face no further action after they were arrested on suspicion of corruption.
Cllr Bob Bibby - the former Bury Councl leader - and Cllr Jim Taylor were arrested at their home in Booth Road, Bacup, in January.
Police took away their computers and also took materials away from Bury town hall.
They also arrested three other men and all five were rebailed twice.
Officers were investigating allegations that Cllr Bibby took a bribe to lend his support to a planning application and that Cllr Taylor had knowledge of it.
Both men strongly denied the claims and they have now been cleared of any wrong doing.
Det Supt Vincent Petrykowski, of Greater Manchester Police's economic crime unit, said: "No further action will be taken against five men arrested following an investigation into alleged corruption.
"Throughout the investigation, there has been ongoing consultation between Greater Manchester Police and the Crown Prosecution Service.
"The Crown Prosecution Service's decision not to prosecute has been made following the most thorough review of all the evidence."
