FOOTBALLERS from kids to professionals are teaming up to Kick Racism out of Football'.
For the fourth year, the event will be held at Bury FC's Gigg Lane ground when the Shakers take on Boston United on Saturday, October 21. Events will also take place at Radcliffe Boro's home fixture against Leek Town. Before the Bury game, nine Year 5 and 6 local school teams will battle it out for the Kick it Out shield, which is run by Bury FC Football in the Community.
The winners will walk out as mascots with the first team, and there will be a half-time penalty shoot-out and parade around the pitch. A health walk will also start from Town Meadow in Tottington at 11am.
The nationwide campaign is supported by the game's governing bodies. Last year, more than 700 events took place during the week of action, including an anti-racism match day at all professional clubs in England and Wales.
Shakers manager Chris Casper said: "The event has proved a success each year, helping us move closer to kicking racism out of football and society for good."
And Robin Philp, football inclusion development officer for Bury Council, said: "We have continually strived to ensure that this annual event gives an everlasting message to the residents of Bury and beyond.
"Racism cannot be tolerated within football or any other walk of life."
