HORRIFIED residents dialled 999 after spotting a man carrying a shotgun in a Bury street.
Others alerted police when they heard shots fired in the same street.
Police deployed armed officers to East Street at 12.20pm on Sunday and discovered that shots had been fired at the front of a house.
Witnesses say the man was wearing dark clothing and a balaclava.
Supt Karan Lee said: “Incidents such as this are extremely rare in the Bury area. However, I can reassure residents that no one has been injured and we are doing our utmost to find out who is responsible.
“We do not believe this was a random attack, but we are asking for anyone who may have seen or heard anything suspicious to contact police. All information we receive will be confidential.”
