AN UPSET parent has launched an online petition calling for political parties to be banned from campaigning near schools.
Sue Smith was driven to act after seeing an election candidate and supporters outside St Peter’s Primary, in Whitefield Road, Bury, as she collected her five-year-old daughter on May 2.
They handed out stickers and balloons, but council officers and the police ruled no offences had been committed.
The petition at – epetitions.direct. gov.uk/petitions/33914 – could be discussed in the Commons if it gains 100,000 signatures within 12 months.
