A WOMAN and a police officer were taken to hospital after a fire in Ramsbottom.
Both were suffering from the effects of smoke inhalation after the blaze in the downstairs living room of a house in Cemetery Road, at 3.30am on Friday.
The 53-year-old woman called the fire service after a blaze started on the settee in the living room.
A police officer, who was first on the scene, used a fire extinguisher before crews from Ramsbottom and Bury arrived.
Police are investigating the incident but it is not thought to be suspicious.
