A CHARITY has completed a move to new premises to extend its service of affordable furniture for low income families and those on benefits.
ReBuild, now based in Park Road, Fernhill in Bury, collects unwanted furniture and other household goods and sell sit on at low cost.
Already providing furniture to almost 500 low-income families and individuals each year, the organisation is keen to promote its services to help others who need settees, dining tables and chairs, beds, wardrobes and other household items.
ReBuild's work is carried out with the help of volunteers who assist on the vans, in the warehouse, workshop or office. Over the past 12 months they have helped to reuse almost 90 per cent of goods collected.
Large amounts of metal are now being recycled in addition to the recycling of all its own waste paper, card, plastic and print cartridges.
Families, individuals and community groups can also access paint via the Bury Community RePaint scheme operated by the charity. It involves collecting end-of-range paint from local DIY chains which would have otherwise gone to landfill. The charity's chief executive, Liz Jackson, said: "We are really excited by the excellent partnerships we have built up, one of which has enabled us to offer upholstery training, shortly to be followed by woodwork training. Our partnership with the Citizens Advice Bureau will see a monthly advice surgery at our premises in Park Road."
