I REFER to Brown Bin Saga (October 5, 2006).
I too approached Bury Council for a brown bin, as I have a 100ft garden and would like to recycle as much as possible.
I went through exactly the same procedure as your correspondent, Judi. First it was "yes, you can have one", then it was "no, you can't", then "yes you can - next year".
Across the road from me, they have brown bins and no gardens, while on our side we have no bins and gardens.
The government tells us to recycle and, of course, it makes sense.
I reported a blue bin to the council that has been emptied and left in Burton Avenue for six months now. So, someone, somewhere hasn't missed it and is quite obviously not recycling.
Again I was told that this would be collected. That was six weeks ago.
Come on Bury Council, for goodness sake. Recycle - you know it makes sense!
