THREE firearms have been handed in to Bury Police since the launch of an amnesty last week.
They were among the first to be surrendered in the Greater Manchester Police Gun Hand In.
The campaign urges people to hand in any illegally-held weapons, imitation firearms, air guns, ammunition and any other unwanted guns, at their nearest police station. Across the county, 83 guns have been surrendered.
They inlcuded a Brocock handgun, a blank firing Magnum and a Martini Henry Rifle, air weapons, BB guns, a Bruni handgun and more than 1,600 rounds of ammunition.
Other firearms were a Webley MKIV .38 revolver, most notably used in World War I, and a Berretta handgun.
The amnesty runs until October 31 and every police station in Greater Manchester is taking part.
Although people can hand in guns anonymously, police will take action on any weapon found to have been used in a crime Members of the public should either go to their local police station to hand weapons in, of if they cannot go in person, contact local police to make arrangements.
For details on how to contact the nearest police station, visit the GMP website www.gmp.police.uk or call GMP's non-emergency number (0161) 872 5050.
