TWO young sisters thought their fairytale had come true when they met pop princess Kylie Minogue.
Bethany and Hannah Evans, of Sunnybank, were thrilled to win a competition to meet Kylie at the launch of her new children's book The Showgirl Princess.
Ten-year-old Bethany and Hannah (7) beat the odds to win the chance to travel to London after entering a BBC Newsround phone-in.
Mum Dawn explained: "Both girls entered seperately and it was a fluke that both were winners. Usually I don't allow them to enter phone-in competitions, but my youngest daughter Hannah is a big Kylie fan and she just looked at me with her pleading eyes and I gave in. I did say, however, that they would never win!"
The sisters, who both attend Sunnybank Primary School, each had to answer a question about where Kylie was from.
Dawn added: "Obviously, the answer was Australia but we were shocked when we got a call to say they had both won. My eldest daughter Bethany was then quick to remind me that I said they wouldn't win."
The family, including dad John, travelled to London to attend Kylie's book-signing at Waterstones, in Oxford Street.
They queued along with 150 competition winners from around the country to meet the popstar up close.
Dawn, who is an office manager for The Portrait Group in Bury, said: "Kylie looked fabulous. She looked stunning in a colourful dress with sequins. Even as a mother I thought "wow" and meeting her is something the girls will never forget.
"She asked Bethany where she lived and thanked her for coming all that way to see her. Hannah was dressed head to toe in pink and Kylie said I bet I know what your favourite colour is, just like mine' and she winked at her."
The Showgirl Princess is a fairytale but based on Kylie and her tour crew and features lots of colour photographs and positive messages for young girls.
The singer has made an amazing comeback since undergoing treatment for breast cancer and as soon as she sets some new dates for concerts in the UK, the Evans family will be hitting the phones once again.
Dawn said: "We will be there, at the front of the queue. The girls were on cloud nine afterwards and have had to do a show and tell everyone at school about their visit.
"I will never forget the look on Hannah's face after meeting Kylie.
"She looked at me and said thanks mum'."
