A FIREMAN captured on video being spun in an industrial sized tumble dryer while on duty has kept his job.
Andy Bruce, from Radcliffe, and three colleagues were suspended after footage of the prank appeared on a website.
In the film, Mr Bruce is seen getting into the dryer and packing clothes around him to protect him as others urge him on.
Now Mr Bruce and three colleagues have been fined 13 days' pay and given final written warnings following a disciplinary hearing in front of County Fire Officer Barry Dixon.
All the firefighters, who are based at Blackley station, pleaded guilty to breaching health and safety rules and bringing the fire service into disrepute.
In a joint statement, the four men said: "We all very much deeply regret our actions and the damage and embarrassment they have caused to our fire service and would like to publicly apologise. We are all extremely proud and privileged to be Greater Manchester firefighters and know we are extremely lucky to have kept our posts. We recognise that our behaviour was totally irresponsible and we're genuinely ashamed and would stress that nobody should try to copy the stupid act that we did."
Mr Dixon said: "Neither myself nor my colleagues will tolerate or condone behaviour such as this which has let the service down."
