THE dream of walking down television's most famous cobbled street is one step closer to reality for a Tottington High School pupil after she was named one of the top drama students in the country.

Kate Dobson (15) was one of only five students in the country to gain full marks in her GCSE performing arts exam - one year ahead of schedule.

The teenager, who is deputy head girl at the Laurel Street school, joined 16 of her classmates in taking the exam in Year 10 as an extra GCSE, studying in early morning and after school sessions. Her hard work paid off when she received a letter from the AQA examination board informing her of her achievement.

Kate, who is in rehearsals for her role as Glenda in the school production of The Wizard of Oz, is hoping to one day follow in the footsteps of past Tottington High pupils and Coronation Street stars Nikki Sanderson, the soap's Candice Stowe, and Vicky Binns, also known as Molly Compton.
