A BIG thumbs-up goes to the kind people of Bury, who helped me get myself back on my feet after my bad fall in Silver Street at the weekend.
Several people came to my assistance, including taxi drivers and members of the general public. A wound to my head was checked by an off-duty nurse; a splendidly-natured young gentleman retrieved my wallet and damaged mobile phone. There was a genuine, fundamental concern about the safety and well-being of a total stranger, and that warmed my insides; I am happy to tell them now that I am absolutely fine – bolstered even more by the quick thinking and charitable attitudes of my fellow townspeople.
To those concerned: please give yourself a firm, well-deserved pat on the back.
