ATHLETIC youngsters from St Stephen's Primary School have earned themselves a place in the Guinness Book of Records after taking part in the Tesco Great School Run.
More than 200 children from nursery up to Year 6 completed four laps of the playing field, a distance of 2km, to earn themselves a medal presented during assembly.
The pupils from the Colville Drive school joined thousands of youngsters across the country completing the race at the same time to be entered into the Guinness Book of Records under the largest ever simultaneous walk or run'.
The event also tied in with the school's bid to become healthier by teaching pupils the importance of exercising safely and eating properly.
Deputy headteacher Rachel Pars said: "The children were really, really tired but said it felt fantastic when they crossed the finish line. It was an excellent day, very worthwhile, and if Tesco do it again next year we will definitely be taking part."
